Experienced fishermen know that crucian carp, as a representative of non-predatory fish, is caught on different baits. However, he prefers vegetable, to which, first of all, corn belongs. Despite the apparent simplicity of this method, the capture of captured instances will be ensured only by understanding and performing some of the nuances that are described below.
Which corn is right
Fishing art involves the use of different methods of preparing corn kernels under the nozzle - this product can be boiled, steamed, used in dried or canned form, and even in raw. At the same time, you can either buy it in specialized fishing stores, or cook it yourself. The latter option is preferable, because it allows not only to save, but also to get bait of higher quality.
Cooking corn at home:
- First, the corn grains are thoroughly washed and soaked for several days in water (the necessary period is determined by the appearance of the product - if the grains are swollen, then you can start cooking).
- Next, the corn is boiled - over medium heat, for 30–40 minutes. Additionally, sugar can be added to the water, at the rate of 1 tbsp. liters per 1 liter of water. In the finished form, the grains become soft, but do not fall apart.
- Then the nozzle is insisted in the same water for 1-2 days. Given the love of crucian carp to various smells, at this stage it is recommended to add flavorings to corn, such as vanilla, plum or banana essence, honey, etc. To increase the fishing efficiency, you can divide the cooked corn into several portions and add your own flavoring to each of them.
Experienced anglers believe that the most attractive for crucian corn becomes sour, and therefore leave it for an additional few days in water, at room temperature. If this option is unacceptable, the product is placed in the freezer until the day of fishing.
Also, in addition to canned or cooked corn, it is permissible to use "milk" grains - that is, those that are not fully formed, and therefore have a milky color and soft structure.
Important! With self-preparation, a selection of the packed product should be carried out: each grain should be round in shape, with a solid shell and a rigid structure. Chips and cracks are also unacceptable.
What should be the hook
The hook, which is planned to be used for vegetable tips, must meet several requirements:
- due to the delicate grain structure, planting without losing shape is possible only on thin, strong and made of high-quality steel hooks (if you plan to plant several grains at once, you will need a hook with an extended forearm);
- taking into account the caution of the crucian carp, golden or shades of red are the optimal colors of the hook;
- in order to avoid loss of the nozzle during long casts, hooks with a sting bent inward will be the best choice;
- the fixing eye does not affect the quality of installation; rather, the skills of the fisherman in the ability to tie a hook to the fishing line will play a role.
How to plant when crucian carp
There are a large number of ways to hook corn. When choosing, fishermen are guided by personal desires, and are also guided by the preferences of the fish and the expected catch.
One grain planting
The method belongs to the simplest and is often used in reservoirs with stagnant water or in rivers with a small current.
Did you know? Crucian is known for extraordinary addictions to odors. So, in addition to standard flavors, many experienced anglers add drops of valerian, onion, garlic, anise and even kerosene to bait and nozzles.
In order to plant grain, use one of several methods:
- The hook is introduced in the center of the grain so as not to damage its integrity. The sting remains inside.
- The sting is passed over the edge of the grain (its skin) and taken out from the other end, which will prevent the fish from breaking off after swallowing the corn. Grain thus receives greater freedom in movement under the influence of water.
- The hook is threaded through the middle of the nozzle and the sting is brought out to the side. This method is often used to catch crucian carp.
How to plant a few pieces
In this case, it is permissible to use hooks slightly larger than the standard ones. When fishing for crucian carp, a garland consisting of 3 grains is sufficient.
Did you know? The 5.5 kg individual, which was caught in the Pskov region, in the village of Osyno, became a famous record holder among crucians.
The process is as simple as possible:
- The required number of grains is mounted on the hook on the side (per skin).
- All elements of the nozzle move closer to the forearm.
Sandwich Nozzle
Crucian carp is famous for capriciousness, and therefore, when it is caught, there are frequent cases of the absence of active biting or the unwillingness of the fish to feed on corn. To heat the interest of fish, you can use the “sandwich” - a combination of nozzles and bait. Moreover, the connection of corn with a red worm or maggot is considered optimal.
Important! The use of this method of bait, which uses both nozzles of plant and animal origin, increases the likelihood of catch, and at any time of the year. Crucian is sure to be interested in at least one component.
In the first case, the preparation includes such steps:
- One grain is placed in the middle of the hook, thus forming a good base for a double nozzle.
- The worm is planted - the sting is passed through the head, since it is much denser than the tail. After the hook reaches the middle of the body, the procedure is repeated, but from the tail. This approach will ensure a firm fixation of the bait without the possibility of the worm sliding off.
If maggots go to the “sandwich” with corn, then:
- The first step is to plant a larva. The hook is also turned on from the head, which is easy to identify by two black points - his eyes.
- Next, they plant corn, several grains at once, so that the sting touches the edge of the peel and comes out from the side.
