Aldi launched new Scotch Wagyu burgers made from traditional Japanese cattle that were born and raised in Scotland.
In order to expand ties with the Scottish beef sector, the retailer launched a burger in which he used one of the most expensive meat products in the world.
The Scotch Wagyu Gourmet PGI-certified burgers are made from certified Scottish beef, which means that the meat used is guaranteed to be the meat of animals born and raised exclusively on Scottish farms. The burgers were released in collaboration with Scotbeef, a Scottish fresh meat company. To be classified as “Wagyu,” meat must come from one or four traditional Japanese cow breeds: Japanese black, Japanese brown, Japanese shorthair, and Japanese survey.
The meat of these cows is famous for being one of the most expensive in the world, and contains a high percentage of monounsaturated fats, which gives the meat a characteristic marble effect. After cooking, the “marbling” of the meat is melted, creating a delicate texture and rich taste.Aldi said burger production is part of its commitment to support beef production in Scotland.
