According to information released by Rosstat employees, in April 2019, the number of livestock of cattle in farm subsidiary and personal farms exceeded 18 million heads.

The figure is impressive, but these figures are 0.9% lower than in the same period last year, 2018.

According to the Federal Statistics Service, as of April 1, 2019, in the stalls of Russian farmers a year ago there were 0.3% more cows than today: the number of livestock of cows fell by 8 million heads.

A similar situation has developed with sheep and goats - over the year they became almost 23.5 million less (4.7%) than in April 2018. If we talk about the number of poultry on Russian farms, then we are talking about a decrease in the number of livestock by almost 559 million individuals (0.9%) over the past year.

At the same time, meat production in Russia has grown significantly. In the first four months of this year, the production volumes of domestic butchers exceeded 650 thousand tons of lamb, beef, goat meat, pork, horse meat and other types of products.

The rate of production of chilled semi-finished products increased by almost 12%, and preservation from meat - by more than 14.5%. But the production of poultry meat and offal from domestic birds has decreased by 6.2% since the beginning of 2019.
