The price of Ukrainian tomatoes began to decline after an almost 2-week period of increase, as Info-Shuvar analysts reported, citing data from their own price monitoring.
Tomato prices were reduced due to an increase in the supply of all types of product throughout the country. So, in the largest wholesale market of Western Ukraine ORUPS "Shuvar" in Lviv since the beginning of this week, 350 tons of product were sold.
As Info-Shuvar experts note, tomato sales began to grow last weekend when large quantities of pink and red tomatoes from the southern regions of Ukraine entered the market.
Today, red tomato on the Shuvar market is sold at a price of 23-28 UAH / kg (0.76-0.9 Euro / kg), and pink tomato at 25-30 UAH / kg (0.83-1, 0 euro / kg). Compared to last week, tomato prices fell by almost 20%.
Prices fell in the southern regions of the country. Last week, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson producers offered red tomatoes at a price of 25-28 UAH / kg (0.83-0.93 euro / kg), and today its price ranges from 18-23 UAH / kg (0.6 -0.76 euro / kg).
Even taking into account lower prices, the cost of tomatoes in Ukraine remains high for this time of year. On the same date in 2017 and 2018. tomatoes were sold almost half the price.
