This week, a business meeting was held between members of the State Food Consumer Union and representatives of the US Department of Defense.
The meeting participants discussed ways to prevent the further expansion of the ASF range in Ukraine. The parties discussed cooperation mechanisms under the US Biological Threat Reduction Program, in particular, those that were directed against ASF in Ukraine: the launch of a project to assess the possibility of contracting a disease in nature and through the country's trade routes; ways to create effective quarantine measures and strategies to control the spread of the disease.
During the meeting, the specialists present analyzed the existing methods and directions for countering ASF in Ukraine and the activities in accordance with the state monitoring plan for ASF.Particular attention was paid to such a transmission channel as private households and natural markets. As a result of the implementation of the provisions of the Program, quarantine measures and ASF control strategies in Ukraine should be improved.
Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian producers massively hide cases of ASF in their households, fearing that the state will not have the means to compensate for disposed of animals.
