In the first two months of this year, Ukraine sold 316 tons of pork abroad, which is one and a half times less than in the same period in 2018.

In monetary terms, the export of pork meat fell to $ 702 thousand, the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine said.

The main buyers of Ukrainian products in this period were Vietnam (meat purchased for $ 269 thousand), the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong ($ 189 thousand each). Vietnam purchased 121 tons of pork from Ukraine, and Hong Kong and the UAE - 85 tons of meat each.

Recall that in January-February of this year, the export of Ukrainian agricultural products grew by $ 683 million and amounted to $ 3.5 billion, which exceeds the same indicator in 2018 by 24.4%. It was previously reported that the number of both cattle and pigs in Ukraine has been steadily declining.

This is due to worldwide cases of African swine fever, the lack of state support for animal husbandry in the country and the high cost of raising livestock.

Refuse livestock in Ukraine have become whole areas. So, recently a similar process has been identified in the Kherson region, where the number of poultry and livestock has sharply decreased. Since the beginning of 2019, the number of poultry in the region has decreased by 24%.
