Chinese farmers have once again become pioneers. This time they launched a special probe into outer space, whose mission is to land on the far side of the moon and find out the local geological characteristics.
“We are aimed at a detailed study of the Moon’s soil, and also intend to find out how the satellite is doing with photosynthesis and what is the growth rate of various crops in the area,” the organizers of the mission called Chang’e-4 explained.

The organizers of the project are representatives of about thirty universities in the PRC. Studying the ability of plants to breathe and develop on the moon, they equipped the probe and the lunar rover to which it is attached, a terrain scanner and cameras.
“Also, the lunar rover is equipped with a radar so that we can determine its location with maximum accuracy,” say Chinese scientists. “In addition, we will use a spectrometer to determine the mineral composition of the lunar soil, as well as wind speed, etc.” We add that this mission is just a drop in the ocean of a large-scale Chinese program for the study of the Moon.
