Experts predict that a gradual drop in the price of imported potatoes will lead to the fact that the local product will cost less and less. The price of imported root crops on February 19 was about 35 UAH / kg. And from 21 to 25 of the current month, its cost began to fluctuate within 31-32 UAH / kg.
For information, in the countries of Europe there is no practice of long-term storage of potatoes. This is considered economically disadvantageous. Tubers are frozen as semi-finished products, go to the production of starch and chips. In Belgium, 86% of potatoes are being modified in this way, the United States puts 60% into production, and Germany - 50%. As for Ukraine and Russia, an insignificant part of the entire crop is processed here.
