The Kharkov spontaneous dump, which is located near the exit from Svetlaya Street on the Ring Road, has become a place of concentration of the African swine plague genome. It was here, on an unauthorized garbage site, bags with the remains of infected pigs were discovered.

According to the Main Directorate of the State Food and Beverage Service of Ukraine in the Kharkov region, corpses and fragments of pigs immediately after detection were delivered to the laboratory of the department. Studies have shown that ASF DNA is present in animal remains. This information was confirmed in the regional state laboratory of the State Food and Beverage Service in the Poltava region.

The place of detection of fragments of infected pig bodies was thoroughly disinfected, and the remains themselves were burned in accordance with the rules and state standards for this procedure.

Where the dead pigs came from in the landfill is currently unknown. In connection with the find today, all farms in the region are being checked.
