The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has launched a grant grant program worth $ 1.5 million to help the dairy industry.
Dairy Initiatives (DBI) approved as part of the 2018 Farm Bill will support dairies that diversify through on-farm processing and product marketing. The program also aims to support regional milk production and aims to reduce the risk for dairy products in the development of high-quality dairy products.
Funds from DBI Initiatives should be used directly for the dairy business, as well as for technical assistance. These grant projects should be used for existing resources of the dairy industry. These include the density of dairy farms and the suitability of farmland for dairy production, as well as activities carried out as part of programs for the promotion and research of dairy products, research organizations, dairy enterprises or academic and industry stakeholders.
Grants can be used for niche markets, such as specialized cheese, or to help dairy enterprises with dairy products derived from certain types of dairy animal milk, including products made from cow, sheep and goat milk.
