During the growing season of 2019, leaflets will be threatened by apple orchards in the greater part of Ukraine, the NAAS Institute of Horticulture warns.
Of all species of the genus Tortricidae in fruit cenoses, the most common and most dangerous is the pink rosette. During the spring-summer examinations, scientists from the Institute of Horticulture found it in all regions except Kharkiv, Chernivtsi, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Lviv and Chernihiv regions.
The pest was populated by apple orchards on an area of 5795.6 ha (55% of the surveyed). 8-33% of the trees were affected, and 48-90% in the Ternopil, Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions. The average population density was 0.5-3.4 specimens / 100 leaves, the maximum - 4-10 specimens / 100 (Khmelnitsky , Ternopil, Kherson, Donetsk, Nikolaev and Dnepropetrovsk regions).Caterpillars damaged 1-5% of the buds, 1-15% of the leaves (in the Donetsk region - 35%), 1-8% of the flowers and 1% of the fruits. Most often, the damage was weak, but in Volhynia and in the Steppe 10-40% of the affected leaves had an average degree of damage. Severe damage was observed in 3% of the affected leaves in Volhynia.
As a result of the autumn survey of gardens in 2018, phytophages were found on 6662.9 hectares (59% of the surveyed areas), 3-37% of trees were populated, and 50.4-67% in Zaporizhzhya, Ternopol, Donetsk and Kherson regions. The density of the wintering population of rosanaceae reached 0.3-1.6 egg-laying / n. m., and in the Donetsk and Zhytomyr region 2-5 egg-laying / p. m. g. (economic threshold of abundance - 1 egg laying / 2 p. m. g.), which is at the level of last year's indicators.
