Gardeners from the southern regions of Ukraine began to harvest early peaches. Farmers who grow stone fruits predict low peach yields this year, according to EastFruit project experts.

Farmers opened the season of selling early peaches from the first days of this week.

According to experts, the starting lots of these fruits entered the Ukrainian markets with a delay of a week compared to last year.

It is noteworthy that the cost of shipped peaches was almost 2 times higher than last year.

Today, the first Ukrainian peaches of this season, farmers offer at a price of 20-30 UAH / kg (1.69-1.97 dollars / kg), whereas in the previous year prices started from 10-15 UAH / kg (0.75-1 , 41 dollars / kg).Mass peach of domestic peach to the Ukrainian market is expected in early July.

A large number of stone fruit producers are of the opinion that this year, peach yields will be much lower than they were in 2018.

This is explained by adverse weather conditions in the main regions of peach cultivation.

Recall that in March and April of this year, frost was observed in the south of the country, which damaged flowers and ovaries of fruit trees. According to gardeners, bad weather caused damage, reducing future crops by 30-50%.
